Krakus® ham is looking for the nation’s best junior chefs to participate in their 3rd Annual Krakus Kids Recipe Contest. The contest encourages children ages 8-12, in collaboration with their parent(s), to create and submit delicious and healthy recipes using Krakus, the true imported Polish ham.


Written recipes must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian and should include photo/s of the finished product along with child’s name, age, contact e-mail address and phone number to info@integracommunications.com (Limit two recipes per contestant.)


All recipes will be judged on originality, creativity and presentation and must include at least one Krakus® ham variety (Original, Reduced Sodium or Honey).


The grand prize entry and a runner-up winner will be notified on 9/1/16. Winners will receive cash prizes ($150, $75), and their recipes will be featured by TV Host of Poland on a Plate, Basia Brown at the Krakus Tent on 9/4/16 during the Taste of Polonia festival at 5216 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago. Winning recipes will also be featured in local publications. Winners are invited to attend and prepare their recipes along with chef Basia Brown at the event.


Official Contest Rules


1.Entry rules: No purchase necessary to enter. Written recipes need to be submitted online at: info@integracommunications.com by 8/31/16. Recipes must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian and must include photo/s of the finished product along with child’s name, age, contact e-mail address and phone number to info@integracommunications.com. Only two submissions per contestant are allowed.


2.   Eligibility: The contest is open to residents of the United States ages 8-12. Immediate families of employees of Smithfield Foods, retailers and wholesalers of Smithfield Food products, and any other company involved with the design, production, execution, or distribution of the promotion, are not eligible. Contest is governed by the laws of the U.S. and void where prohibited by law. All federal, state and local rules and regulations apply.


3.   Contest Guidelines: All submitted recipes must use Krakus® ham. (Original, Reduced Sodium or Honey varieties). Recipes may include any combination of ingredients. Each submitted recipe must be original and include the name of the recipe, readily available ingredients (found in most well-stocked supermarkets), standard U.S. measurements, and be written to make two servings. Each ingredient must be listed in the exact order of use, followed by complete, step-by-step, cooking instructions, including cooking times, for preparation. The recipe must not have been previously published or have won another award, and the right to submit it must not be restricted in any way. Submission of a recipe is a warranty that the contestant owns all copyrights and other intellectual property rights to the recipe and constitutes an assignment of these rights to Smithfield Krakus Ham will not be held liable for any copyright infringements or any prior exclusivity rights to any recipe submitted.


4.   Judging: Winning recipes will be chosen based on the following criteria: 

25% Integration of Krakus ham (Original, Reduced Sodium or Honey)

25% Originality

25% Creativity

25% Presentation


5.   Winners Selection: Two winners will be selected by the Judging Panel from all entries. Winners will be notified on 9/1/16 and invited to appear for photo opportunities and/or public relations events to demo the recipe during the Taste of Polonia festival 9/4/16.


6.    Krakus Recipe Contest Prize:
The Judging Panel will select: One (1) Grand Prize Winner who will receive a cash prize of $150 plus ten (10) tickets to the Taste of Polonia festival in Chicago; plus One (1) Runner-up Winner who will receive a cash prize of $75 and four (4) tickets to the Taste of Polonia.


7.   General Conditions: Entrants agree to be bound by the terms of these Official Rules. All entries become the property of Smithfield Foods. Finalists will be required to execute documents of eligibility, release from liability, and transfer of their winning recipes. By entering the contest, all participants consent to the commercial use of their names, pictures, likenesses, and recipes (with rights to edit or adapt those recipes) without further compensation. By entering, participants release and hold harmless Smithfield Foods, its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents, and the Judging Panel from any and all liability or any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this contest or any prize won. Smithfield Foods and its agents are not responsible for unauthorized human intervention, phone, technical, network, electronic, computer, hardware or software failures, malfunctions or disconnects of any kind, or misdirected, illegible, incomplete, stolen, garbled, fragmented or delayed internet/e-mail computer transmissions or network/ISP/website internet accessibility; or for inaccurate, incorrect or incomplete capture of entry information.
